Retford Park Bird Watching Breakfast

hero
Early morning at Retford Park is the best time of the day- crisp morning air, soft light with long shadows, and birds are busy greeting the new day. James Fairfax, the former owner of Retford Park was a bird enthusiast- the house still contains many of his bird books and artworks.

Over the last seven years the garden team have focussed on increasing the bird population at Rertford Park. Bird nesting boxes have been installed, safe water stations provided, native shelter belts planted, and habitat for invertebrates developed. To date, our bird list has seventy species (including the spotted pardalote) observed in the garden and surrounding curtilage. Perhaps you can add to this list…

Join us for an early morning bird walk followed by a hearty breakfast (bacon, eggs, real coffee, poached rhubarb and yogurt.) Our resident bird expert will help you identify your own list- perhaps pointing you in the right direction after hearing their calls. Identification books supplied. Bring your binoculars, enthusiasm and an appetite.

Cost $45, $35 National trust members.

Maximum participants 20.

Retford Park. 1325 Old South Road, Bowral.
