ASG Presents: What's involved in fabric design?

The Australian Sewing Guild in WA is excited to present an opportunity to hear from three local fabric artisans/designers. Come along to learn what's involved in their fabric design processes - you might even walk away feeling inspired to design your own fabric, or pursue the purchase of our presenters' magnificent fabrics/designs!
Grab a ticket ($15/ASG members, $17/non-members) and come along to hear from:
  • Daniela Casadio, is an architect who loves to draw with both real and digital pencils. She uses these same pencils to designing fabrics which are available for purchase through  digital fabric printing services Spoonflower (booboo_collective) and Australian-based Next State. Daniela will talk us through her mostly-digital design process, and her experiences with digital fabric printing.
  • Liz Dawes is the owner of online and retail fabric store Woven Stories Texiles. Liz has a deep knowledge of screen and block printing, her love of which regularly take her to India, where she sources most of fabrics for her store direct from fabric printing artisans and their co-ops. Back here in Perth, Liz also leads workshops in block printing techniques from her retail store in Myaree. (Liz will also have some of her fabric (pre-cuts and remnants) available for purchase on the day!)
  • Jess Lisle is a watercolour and textile artist who also makes her designs available to purchase via Spoonflower (hollydickson), and sells products she sews out of her fabric design on Etsy. Jess is also a member of the Maylands Sewcial Club!  Jess will lead us through an tutorial on creating repeating patterns - an important consideration when designing your own fabric!
