Master the art of natural light portrait photography.

This small-group full-day portrait photography workshop is designed to seriously improve your natural light portraiture skill set.

In addition to shooting with natural light at a variety of locations, we'll also learn the equipment professionals use to shape, modify and enhance natural light. In particular diffusers, reflectors, scrims and more because they are essential tools of mastering light. These skills are especially relevant for wedding and portrait photographers.

The natural light portrait photography workshop includes:

Female and Male models

Basic Natural Light Shoot and Introduction to the equipment

Daylight study window light portrait session

Graffiti Wall location shoot

Golden hour parklands shoot

What We Will Be Covering:

  • Mastering Window light

  • Posing and positioning

  • Learning to shoot in full sun

  • Soft light and where to find it

  • Backlighting v frontlighting

  • Reflectors, diffusers and modifiers

  • Natural light Do's and Dont's

  • Finding the best light in any situation

We'll also use a professional models to work through a variety of scenarios together and put into practice what we've learnt.  To really get you thinking I'll be creating some tricky situations to test your knowledge and improve your skills because we learn by DOING!

As a result you'll be window light masters by lunchtime!

Over lunch we'll be analysing a number of my most successful images. First if all for composition, as well as framing, lens choice, aperture choice and camera settings to pull apart how they were achieved.

Hence this natural light photography class is for any photographer wanting to increase their knowledge and understanding of natural light for successful, inspiring portraits.

The philosophy of my workshops is simple: to finish the day a much more accomplished, passionate and skilled photographer than when you started.

The entire day is designed to give you the knowledge and tools you need to go ahead take the next step in your photography - taking better photos more often. Over the last three years I’ve worked with hundreds of photographers just like you staring out on their journey in photography. When you consider the cost of the equipment and not being able to maximise it, this small investment in your passion will be one of the best things you will do for your photography. And this is why my small group workshops always sell out.

My work includes campaign shoots with many leading Australian brands, celebrities and athletes such as Delta Goodrem, F1’s Mark Webber, Master Chef George Calombaris, My Kitchen’s Rules Karen Martini, Sonia Kruger, Jessica Mauboy, Ricky Ponting, Shelley Craft, Timomatic, Ashley Hart, Lleyton Hewitt, Bondi Vet Chris Brown, Hawthorn AFL, cricketer Mitchell Johnson, Olympic Gold medallist Sally Pearson, All Blacks captain Keiran Read and many others. I’ve also twice been a finalist in Australian PhotoBook of the Year.

I’m represented by creative agency Illuminate Management. See more of my work HERE
