The Transition Support Service in North Queensland and the Transition Support Unit in the NT both operate to assist the movement of Indigenous students into boarding schools and residences.
Following the What’s Working in Boarding workshop held at the 2019 Indigenous Education & Boarding Symposium in Brisbane there was a lot of interest from boarding schools about transition services and how they can connect up with them. WA delegates openly expressed a desire for a WA transition service.
So what do transition services do? Who do they help? What do they do well? And how can they do better?
Hear Richard Stewart, State Program Manager of the Transition Support Services and Andrew Lloyd, Senior Transition Manager – South with the Transition Support Unit discuss the function of their respective services, the benefits they bring and the challenges they face.
