The Edward Said Memorial Lecture is an annual public lecture that honours the memory of the path-breaking thinker and writer, the late Edward Said

The 2013 speaker, Dr Mustafa Barghouthi, co-founded Al Mubadara (Palestinian National Initiative, PNI) along with Edward Said in 2002

Dr Barghouthi was nominated for the 2010 Nobel Peace Prize

He was awarded the Medal of Solidarity by Italy 2007, and was also honoured with the Legion of Honour by France 2009
