Imaginarium

The Imaginarium is an initiative unique to Perth College, catering specifically for gifted girls of very high ability. Through a strengths-based lens, minds expand and soar. Innovation, curiosity and creativity are encouraged whilst social and emotional capabilities are supported and enhanced. Courses develop participants through a holistic approach, developing gifted girls’ intellectual, social, emotional and vocational domains. Open to all gifted girls, from any school in Western Australia.

Audacious Projects

Years 3-6

Future change makers are called upon to explore, investigate and ponder possibilities through a future-focused lens. What if supercharged plants could slow climate change? What if we could win the fight against poverty? What are the discoveries awaiting us in the ocean’s twilight zone? Participants will draw on their Character Strengths of Curiosity, Creativity, Open Mindedness and Perspective whilst exploring an audacious project they are curious about, utilising future-focused pedagogy to seek innovative solutions.

Evolving Species: Ecological Possibilities

Years 1-6

In a rapidly changing world, animals are continuing to adapt to the changes in their environment. Drawing on their Character Strengths of Curiosity, Creativity and Perspective, participants will investigate animals whose adaptations have changed over time and the impact that has had on the species. They will think creatively about future ecological possibilities in environments that are diverse and present their evaluation and understandings through a method of their choice.

Gingerbread Architecture for Two

Years 4-9

Relationships and connections are at the core of our Imaginarium program. This course celebrates relationships and connections by allowing each participant to invite a special adult in their life to participate. Drawing on their Character Strengths of Creativity, Teamwork and Bravery, each duo will investigate different types of gingerbread architecture before embarking on their own architectural journey, constructing a creative architectural masterpiece out of gingerbread they have made. The Head of Imaginarium will be in contact to acquire further details of the special adult who is attending once your booking has been received. Places for this course are limited.

Innovation: Sustainable Cities

Years 4-9 

Stemming from Damon Gameau’s 2040 film, which explores what the future would look like if we embraced sustainable solutions now. Participants will investigate these solutions and consider how they could be applied to create a sustainable city in Australia. Drawing on their Character Strengths of Curiosity, Creativity, Perspective and Teamwork, participants will design and create a sustainable city, including essential features to promote a flourishing society and environmentally friendly footprint.

Adventures in the Amazon Rainforest

Kindy to Year 2

Have you ever wondered about the different species of animals who live in the Amazon rainforest? Have you ever wondered how they survive? Participants will draw on their Character Strengths of Curiosity, Creativity and Appreciation of Beauty and Excellence whilst exploring the animals whose home is the Amazon rainforest. They will inquire and learn more about these species and through creative thought and application, consider how the animals live together in this region.
