FUNDAMENTALS OF Couple counselling: a Two DAY introduction workshop SYDNEY 23-24 March 2020

Do you find working with couples a challenge? Would you like to feel more confident to be able to work with couples?

Being an effective couple therapist requires us to develop skills that may not come naturally. In this training you will learn the fundamental skills of couple therapy, explore the challenges of working with adults who present with relationship problems and the particular issues they bring to the counselling room.

By the end of the course, participants will develop:

  • An increased knowledge of systemic couple therapy;
  • Skills in structuring and conducting a couple counselling session;
  • Skills in couple assessment, interviewing and facilitating change;
  • Skills in managing the therapeutic relationship, and;
  • An increased understanding of particular issues central to couple work.

Date: Monday 23rd and Tuesday 24th March 2020

Session time: 9.30am - 4.30pm

Cost: $470 (AASW members $450). Includes morning and afternoon tea.

Early Bird (register before 20 February): $435 (AASW members $415)

CPD: 12 hours

Who should attend?

Social workers, psychologists, clinical psychologists, counsellors, psychotherapists, occupational therapists, mental health nurses and all allied health professionals working therapeutically with adults.

About the presenters:

Geraldine and Pamela are skilled practitioners with many years in the field teaching the skills of conducting couple counselling. Both presenters are Accredited Mental Health Social Workers with a master’s degree in Couple and Family Therapy, and qualifications in adult education and training. They work in private practice providing individual, couple and family therapy and clinical supervision. Both presenters are passionate about sharing their knowledge and experiences in order to help other practitioners increase their skills and grow confidence in working with couples.
