THE COURSE … WHAT’S INVOLVED?
The PCA NCAS Coach Courses are completed in two parts; a theory component and a practical component.
You will be required to complete a workbook which aids in assessing your theoretical coaching knowledge. You will be required to have parts of the workbook signed off by a mentor. A mentor will ideally be an NCAS Equestrian Coach with Pony Club, Equestrian Australia or RDA, they may also be an experienced coach who has superior knowledge in the area you are learning about. The workbook comes with another manual called, Syllabus and Coaching Notes, this manual provides information to assist you to complete the workbook. Candidates are also expected to have a thorough knowledge of the PCA Syllabus of Instruction and to utilise additional resources as part of their training.
Once you have completed your workbook and want to be practically assessed you will need to book into a Practical Assessment Day and forward your workbook to the PCV State Office. Workbooks are required a minimum of 2 weeks prior to your chosen Practical Assessment day.
The Practical Assessment component involves an NCAS State Assessor observing you whilst coaching to assess how you implement your coaching knowledge. Most of these assessment days are Zone based and will require you to travel to a central venue.
Preliminary Coaches will be required to coach a group of D - D* level riders demonstrating your coaching abilities in flat, jumping and games.
Level 1 Coaches will be required to coach a group of C - C* level riders demonstrating your coaching abilities in flat, jumping and horsemastership.
COST OF ACCREDITATION
