Falls in Residential Aged Care Settings

One Day Workshop

Thursday 19th March 2020, 9am-4pm

Falls are a leading cause of injury-related death and hospitalisation in older people. As people get older, particularly those living in residential aged care, they are more susceptible to falling over and losing their balance.

At this one-day evidence-based workshop you will learn:

  • to identify the nature and impact of the problem of falls in older people living in residential aged care

  • about risk factors and how they impact on falls

  • to understand the issues related to falls for people who live in residential aged care

  • interventions that have been shown to be effective in preventing falls

  • how adherence impacts on the effectiveness of falls prevention interventions (including exercise)

  • how evidence can be applied in residential aged care

  • how others have dealt with challenging residents

This workshop will give you the opportunity to refresh and expand your knowledge, share your experiences in falls prevention, and will provide you with the latest evidence to help you improve the care you deliver to your residents.
