The ACA has arranged a technical evening with two speakers to discuss various corrosion issues that occur in the water & wastewater environments.

Topics to be covered and the speakers include:

An Overview of Corrosion Issues and Coating Solutions for the Wastewater Industry
Rod Dalglish, PPG Protective Coatings
This presentation will discuss how Internal Linings & Coatings systems are crucial to maintain water quality, and will explain the requirements of any coating which comes into contact with water is subject to the highest standards.

Microbial Corrosion of Stainless Steels
Margarita Vargas, North Australian Centre for Oil and Gas, Charles Darwin University
This presentation discusses results on MIC of duplex stainless steel and its weldments in the presence of sulphate reducing bacteria in a chloride environment. This presentation also discusses the correlation between the duplex stainless steel microstructure and the bacterial activity. Understanding the different mechanisms by which bacteria may depassivate stainless steels is useful in tackling the extensive occurrence of MIC in industry, with major economic implications.
