Assemblage at Twilight: Sculpture Workshop

Get creative and make your own assemblage sculpture in this intimate twilight workshop led by leading Melbourne-based artist Meredith Turnbull. Taking inspiration from more than 100 artworks by renowned Australian sculptor Robert Klippel, currently on show in ASSEMBLED: The Art of Robert Klippel, you’ll learn the fascinating art of assemblage, meet a remarkable maker, and enjoy wine, cheese and exclusive after-hours Museum access as you create your own piece to take home.

Suitable for people of all skill levels, you’ll experiment with different methods of combining and fixing found objects and materials, explore the art of assemblage, and engage your smartphone to capture your creation in motion.

All materials provided – feel free to bring along your own collection of small plastic or metal objects to incorporate into your artwork. Please wear enclosed shoes.  

TICKETS: $30 Adult / $20 Museum Members and Concession (Student, Pension & Healthcare card holders). Includes workshop, exhibition entry, a glass of wine from TarraWarra Estate and cheese from Yarra Valley Dairy.
 


About Meredith Turnbull

Meredith Turnbull’s practice engages diverse scales, art historical traditions and genres – and manifests in connections between sculpture, images, decorative objects and jewellery. She has an ongoing interest in combining sculpture, craft and design through approaches to excess, adornment and decor.

Meredith holds a Bachelor of Art with Honours in Art History, La Trobe University, 2000; a Bachelor of Fine Art, Gold and Silversmithing, RMIT University, 2005 and a PhD in Fine Art, Sculpture and Spatial Practice, Monash University, 2016. Turnbull has held solo exhibitions at Station, MADA Gallery, Pieces of Eight, Bus Projects, The Other Side, West Space, CCP, TCB and The Narrows. She has exhibited in group exhibitions at galleries including the National Gallery of Victoria, Craft Victoria, Glen Eira Council Gallery, Melbourne Art Fair, VCA Margaret Lawrence Gallery, George Paton Gallery and the JamFactory in Adelaide.
