'Sound & Waves' performed by Perth Symphony
Immerse yourself at Perth Symphony Orchestra’s production of “Sounds and Waves”, a celebration of the unique and spiritual relationship West Australians have with the ocean.
*Coronavirus update below*Set by the ocean at the iconic B Shed in Fremantle, the program will include a bespoke mix of music designed to evoke a sense of movement and awaken the spirit of the ocean; from classical to contemporary pieces including a WA Premiere and soundscapes. Live music from Perth Symphony strings and guest artists will be interwoven with stories told by individual West Australians whose connections to the ocean are deeply profound and reflect our own experiences in this isolated but beautiful part of the world. Whether you surf, swim, fish, sail, or came to Perth by boat, this concert aims to bring to life our Indian Ocean through a stunning music soundtrack featuring works by classical greats such as Vivaldi and Gershwin and contemporary composers including Ross Edwards and John Butler.
Allow Perth Symphony Orchestra to take you on a journey under the waves and into the heart of the sea!

As you may already be aware, the government has banned all events of 500 people or more. We wish to confirm to you that our Sound & Waves concert is expected to have a maximum capacity of 400 people (inclusive of all patrons, musicians, volunteers and staff).
Therefore, at this point in time we will be going ahead with the concert.
Some of the extra measures we are putting in place, on the advice of the Department of Health include
- minimising physical interaction between staff / volunteers and guests
- educating and training staff and volunteers on important prevention measures
- signage reinforcing health guideline practices like hand washing and sneezing/coughing etiquette has been posted in all our locations.
- hand sanitiser, soaps and tissues readily available
- refunds available to those who are required to self-isolate
We will continue to update you if new regulations are put in place by the WA Government, and take the safety of our patrons, musicians, staff and volunteers seriously.
While so many musicians and artists have lost work in this tough time, we are so glad to be able to continue to support our musicians, give them work and provide a beautiful arts and cultural experience to you, our patrons.
