Key Word Sign 1 Day Basic Workshop- Nowra
DATE AND TIME- Monday the 23rd of March 2020, 10am to 4:45pm
LOCATION- Nowra Library Meeting Room at 10 Berry Street Nowra NSW 2541. Entry is on the ground floor adjacent to the Woolworth car park at the rear of the library.
COST- $180 per participant
KWS is the use of manual signs and natural gesture to support communication. KWS is used to encourage and support language development in children and adults with communication difficulties.
This KWS workshop will include:
· Learning a basic vocabulary of signs to use in everyday settings (Interactive Vocabulary 1 and 2, natural gestures and finger spelling)
· Understanding how to choose which signs to teach
· Learning the principles of KWS and natural gesture
· Understanding how KWS supports communication
· Lots of interaction and opportunities to practice using KWS
Every participant will receive a copy of the book Getting Started with Key Word Sign (Auslan Edition) and a Certificate of Attendance.
The workshop is relevant for anyone living, working with or interacting with a person with communication difficulties including: parents/carers, family & community members, disability support workers, educators and allied health professionals.
Light refreshments will be provided. Please bring your own or you can purchase this from nearby shops/ cafes on the day.
NDIS FUNDING- NDIS funding can be used to cover the cost of this workshop.
