Sketch and Stand Up Comedy Masterclass

Tim Ferguson's Sketch and Stand Up Comedy Masterclass

Whether you’ve got five minutes of stage time, or a smart phone and a YouTube account, you have the resources to make an audience laugh.

Tim Ferguson’s Masterclass in Sketch and Stand Up Comedy is designed specifically for those who write sketch comedy and stand up. It covers ancient and fixed principles of joke writing, and how to make even the briefest amount of stage time a stand out moment for your audience.

The skills taught in this course are essential in all short form comedy, and are transferrable across mediums. The day will be split between sketch and stand up and touch on associated forms such as musical comedy and internet videos.

Tim Ferguson is Australia's leading academic teacher of comedy. He is a comedian, producer and screenwriter. He wrote the bestselling comedy writing manual: The Cheeky Monkey – Writing Narrative Comedy   and has made dozens of comedy and entertainment TV shows, both alone and as part of the multi-award winning, boundary-breaking comedy trio The Doug Anthony All Stars.

Tim lectures in comedy and screenwriting all around the country. He works as a comedy script consultant and editor for production companies in Australia and Britain and is currently touring is sell-out success show, Carry a Big Stick (now also available as a book through Hatchett).
