SciScouts: Mt Stromlo Astronomy - Cub, Scout & Venturer

This year Scout ACT’s SciScouts program is going online, and we are partnering with Fizzics Education, Mt Stromlo Observatory and ANU Young Stars to deliver SciScouts: Space. The SciScouts Cub, Scout and Venturer Program will be:

Refund policy: We are unable to provide refunds following the close of bookings (unless in exceptional circumstances), as materials and programming need to be finalised in the lead-up to events based on final numbers.

Part 1: Stars & Planets online workshops - 24-26 August

Virtual education specialists Fizzics Education will deliver an interactive Stars & Planets online workshop for Cubs, Scouts and Venturers. Online Zoom workshops offered on 3 nights during week 6 of Term 3. Visit www.trybooking.com/BKDIE for details. Due to limited capacity, Scouts from the ACT and surrounding NSW South Coast & Tablelands Region have priority access to these workshops.

Part 2: Mt Stromlo Online Astronomy Night/s - 18 or 19 September [BOOK ON THIS PAGE]

CUB SCOUTS: 7:00-9:00pm AEST Friday 18 September (end week 9, Term 3). Max 450. $5/participant (plus 50 booking fee), includes SciScouts: Space event badge. 3 x 20-minute talks: Indigenous Astronomy, Supernova and things that go bang; and Are we alone? Online star-gazing with Dr Brad Tucker from Mt Stromlo Observatory.

SCOUTS and VENTURERS: 7:00-9:00pm AEST Saturday 19 September (end week 9, Term 3). Max 450. $5/participant (plus 50c booking fee), includes SciScouts: Space event badge. 3 x 20-minute talks: Indigenous Astronomy, Exoplanets: Beyond our Solar System, and Rockets 101. Online star-gazing with Dr Brad Tucker from Mt Stromlo Observatory.

A Zoom link and password will be sent out to registered participants. Note: Individuals can register, however if Leaders decide to register as a Unit, please let parents know, so they don’t double book. Although siblings may choose to participate on the same device, please note that unless two tickets are purchased, only one badge will be sent.

Part 3: Destination Moon & Beyond - Saturday 15 August
