 100% NERAM Preview and Opening

100% NERAM is a celebration and exploration of the wonderful and broad variety of artworks found within the NERAM Collections. Established in 1983 with the significant Howard Hinton and Chandler Coventry Collections, NERAM expanded its collecting areas with its own eponymous collection and the inclusion of the Armidale City Collection. Come and be amazed by the numerous treasures on display and discover why NERAM is known as ‘the jewel in the crown of New England’.

Both the Preview and Opening are capped at the maximum number of attendees permitted in the space safely as per the NSW Government 1 person per 4 metre square restriction. There will be no formalities, food or drink during these hours.

A major exhibition celebrating the diverse and avant-garde works of art
from the Chandler Coventry Collection. Featuring artists such as Howard
Arkley, Tony Bishop, Peter Booth, Joe Brainard, Gunter Christmann, Fred
Cress, Gene Davis, Janet Dawson, Albert Irvin, Alun Leach-Jones, Ann
McCoy, Robert Owen, Wendy Paramor, Jeffrey Smart, Michael Taylor, Dick
Watkins, Brett Whiteley and more. This exhibition highlights the dynamic
and eclectic taste of respected gallerist and collector Chandler Coventry AM.

MAKING YOUR MARK: Works from the NERAM Collection
Curated by Caroline Downer OAM

Focusing on the fundamental language of art - mark making, this
exhibition features artists including Mirdidingkingathi Juwarnda Sally
Gabori, Janet Laurence, Ann Thomson, Tony Tuckson, Jenny Barwell,
Elizabeth Coats, Angus Nivison and Aida Tomescu. Traversing abstraction,
realism, landscapes, portraits and everything in between, this exhibition
celebrates the richness and breadth of art within the NERAM Collection.

In 2017 Elisabeth Cummings donated 76 of her prints to NERAM. This treasure
trove includes still life and interior works reflecting her studio and its surrounds
as well as the artist residencies she has undertaken around Australia including
the Pilbara, Hill End and Lake Mungo. This exhibition provides a comprehensive
overview of her printmaking and an insight into her reinterpretations of prior

ART IN THE MIX: Works from the Armidale City Collection
Curated by Armidale Regional Council

The Armidale Regional Council established an art collection in 1963 and over the
next 30 years amassed more than 300 works of art. In 2016 the collection was
transferred unconditionally to the New England Regional Art Museum which had
cared for it since 1982. This exhibition reveals the broad variety of works from this
collection and reflects the everchanging city.

FORM: Sculpture from the NERAM Collections

FORM is a deep dive into the myriad sculpture held within the NERAM Collections.
Exploring how viewers experience sculpted forms, this exhibition considers the
differing impact the choices an artist makes can have. Material, scale, shape,
tactility and environmental light and sound all influence and affect how a viewer
perceives and responds to sculpture.

  •  Booking beforehand and signing in upon entry.
  •  Physical distancing of 1.5m between other guests.
  •  Using hand sanisiter and handwashing facilities upon entry and as needed.
  •  Do NOT enter NERAM if you are feeling unwell, showing any symptoms of COVID-19 including cough and fever - even a simple cold or flu. 
  •  Follow all directions given by NERAM staff.
