A Stretch of the Imagination

A Stretch of the Imagination

WHAT: Jack Hibberd's classic one-hander, originally written for the Australian Performing Group at the Pram Factory, one of the gems of the renaissance in Australian play-writing of the 1970s,  is a mordant satire on life and death, sex, the body and the whole caboose. With only two weeks to live, he is determined to 'hurdle and pole-vault to his coffin'. Xavier-educated and a reclusive rebel whose own company is compelling, the witty Monk O'Neil will be played by Wayne Pearn who has admired the play for decades, and played it as a younger man. This moved reading will be directed for Bloomsday in Melbourne by Renee Huish.
