Fundamentals/Progressions - Age 12+ - Brisbane CBD
Fundamentals
You must have attended a First Timers class or an Adults Introductory program before attending a Fundamentals class.
Our parkour Fundamentals class covers all the essential movements of parkour and other aspects of the discipline, including strength and conditioning training, stretching, training methods and the philosophies behind parkour.
Fundamentals classes are open to all skill levels, from those just starting out to the more advanced who may want to hone their technical skill.
We will be focusing on the main categories of movements in parkour:
- Landings, Balance and Climbing - The most fundamental movements
- Mantling - Getting over the top of things, whether it’s getting up or down
- Wall Running - Any movement that requires redirection of momentum using a wall
- Passement - The basic vaults that can be adapted to most obstacles
- Gap Jumps - Different ways to get over gaps
- Bar Movement (through gaps) - Movement through bars and branches
- Specialised Climbing - For the most part, powerful climbing movements
- Other Vaults/Specialised Movement - Movements that don’t fit into any of the other categories
Our instructors will teach you to move through your environment in various ways, allowing you to move more confidently and safely in all aspects of your lifestyle. These movements will create a base that can be built upon and developed further as a practitioner of parkour.
Progressions
Progressions classes follow on from Fundamentals, taking concepts and techniques taught and applying them in different environments and situations. These classes will also employ various training techniques and present differing approaches to both ideas and obstacles to continue to build upon your knowledge, confidence and technical skill. You must have a firm grasp of the fundamental techniques before attending Progressions classes, as the fundamental skills will not be taught, only extended upon.
A Progressions student should be able to comfortably:
- Do a climb-up from a dead hang without using your elbows
- Run 2 kilometres in under 10 minutes
- Roll on concrete
- Speed Vault
- Dash Vault
- Lazy Vault
- Turn Vault
- Cat Pass
