Presented by City of Melbourne and The Society of Organists (Victoria)

WHAT: Mozart said “The organ will ever be the King of Instruments.” Today is a chance to get up close and personal with the crown jewels, the 10 000 pipe Melbourne Town Hall Grand Organ. Backstage tours will visit the Organ Museum and view the pipes at close range and experienced organists can be guided through the wonders of the Grand Organ.

Red Symonds will narrate Peter and The Wolf and will illuminate the many wonders of the pipe organ for children.

The day also includes a Young Organists' concert with the next generation of Victoria's concert organists. Then youngsters will get a chance to get their hands on the Grand Organ.

11am - 1.30pm: Open Console sessions for organists. 15 minute sessions available. Bookings ESSENTIAL. Please continue booking.

2pm - 2.45pm: Red Symonds (ABC 774) narrates the classic Peter and the Wolf, with Brendon Lukin at the organ. This will include an introduction to the Grand Organ and its impressive sounds for children - a seated presentation. Bookings not required.

3.00pm - 4.00pm: Young Organists' concert. Listen to the next generation of organists perform a mixed repertoire.

4.00pm - 5.30pm: Hands-on session for youngsters. A chance to get your hands on the keys of the Grand Organ. Be guided by an organist. If you play piano, feel free to bring your music. Bookings not required. 

Backstage Tours with an expert run for 30 minutes and commence at 11.)0am, 11.45pm, 12.30pm, 1.15pm, 4.00pm. Bookings for these tours are ESSENTIAL. Please continue booking.
