Zero Carbon Moonlight Cinema

Zero Carbon Moonlight Cinema

VENUE: Melbourne Girls' College, Cnr Yarra Boulevard and Bridge Rd Richmond.

A starlit night provides a great backdrop on a balmy Melbourne Summer eve for a good outdoor movie night, but it doesn’t provide much power for the solar pannels. So the Melbourne Girls’ College Sustainability Collective has teamed up with Future Spark (the team which brought us the Earth Hour concert) to come up with the world’s first 100% pedal powered Moonlight cinema!

This community event, part of the 2011 Sustainable Living Festival, will be held on Friday, February 25th at Melbourne Girls' College, Yarra Boulevard in Richmond. Gates will open at 5.00pm with the movie beginning at dusk.

Guests are encouraged to BYO picnic, drinks and rugs, and may purchase a snag at the BBQ or pedal for a coffee at our zero carbon, fair trade coffee cart – please bring rugs rather than seats with legs however, as these will impede the viewing of others.  If you do wish to bring a seat, you will be asked to sit at the rear of the area.

We are encouraging all guests, or at least those with a little get-up-and-go to pedal in 15 minute sessions in order to generate the energy needed to power the event – guests may pedal individually or in teams, and those guests who are keen to pedal are advised to book a time slot between 5.00 and 10.00pm.

Tickets are $12 for adults and $8 concession, with prizes to be given to those individuals and teams which generates the most energy.

Tickets will also be available at the gate.  To book a pedalling time slot, or simply to make an enquiry, please call Samantha Green on 0407 890 785 or email .
