Explore the key elements that are required to write a short script for theatre including dialogue, scenes, structure, stage directions, characters and plot. Each week will be focused on a different element of scriptwriting with the overall goal to create a short script that explores all that you have learned. The course will conclude with a reading of the scripts created.

Teacher Biography
Nic Velissaris has worked in the performing arts for over 20 years and has taught scriptwriting at Deakin University and Australian Catholic University. He has worked as a lecturer and tutor in higher education for the past 7 years. He has written over 30 plays and has had his work produced at the Melbourne Theatre Company, St Martin Youth Arts Centre, La Mama Theatre and the Australian Theatre for Young People. He has also produced work in the Melbourne Fringe Festival, the Melbourne International Comedy Festival and the Adelaide Festival.
