On the 20th May 2021 we marked the 500th anniversary of the cannonball smashing St Ignatius’ leg in a battle at Pamplona, and so began his conversion to Christ. From the date the Ignatian family began an Ignatian Year of seeing all things new in Christ. This more-than-a-year concludes on the 31st of July 2022 where we will also mark on the 12th of March 2022, the 400th anniversary of the canonization of St Ignatius Loyola with St Francis Xavier, St Teresa of Avila, St Isidore Labrador and St Philip Neri.
The Jesuit parish of Our Lady of the Way, North Sydney, will celebrate the Ignatian Year with a unique concert of settings inspired by either the person, the writings, or in honour of St Ignatius of Loyola.
The texts are by Australian Jesuits: Andrew Bullen, Daniel Madigan and Andrew Hamilton, as well as French Jesuit Didier Rimaud SJ. The music is by Australian Jesuit composer Christopher Willcock.
On behalf of the Jesuit and parish communities I warmly invite you to join us on the Vigil of the Feast of St Ignatius on July 30) for this festival of inspiring words and fine music.
