WEAVING WORKSHOP with Linda Coomber
This one day workshop is perfect for weaving beginners. Linda will provide an introduction to weaving techniques and guide us through, in step by-step detail, the creation of a "dilly bag"
Traditionally, dilly bags are produced by Indigenous Australian people. The bags are mainly designed and used by women to gather food and are most commonly found in the northern parts of Australia. The baskets we are making in this workshop are a loose interpretation of a dilly bag and use various weaving techniques. All the techniques used in this basketry workshop form the basis for making any round basket, and should inspire confidence in making baskets on a round reed base. Materials used will be traditional and non-traditional, including natural fibres and twines.
All materials will be supplied by Linda.
A light grazing style lunch will be provided with lots of locally sourced yummies. Please let us know when booking if you have any dietary requirements.
