Improving staff retention and job satisfaction with the use of personality and work style preference tools
Demand for AHPs is projected to grow by 22 percent to 2024. However, only 32% to 75% of vacancies for AHPs in Australia are filled with a suitably skilled candidate. In Australia, employers have observed that although graduate supply is adequate, it is difficult to find suitably skilled senior therapists, and indeed in two thirds of positions, applicants are deemed unsuitable as they lack specialist skills.
There is limited Australian financial data regarding the costs of AHP turnover. However, an extrapolation of nursing profession data, suggests the mean cost per staff turnover to the employer is $27,400AUD. Therefore, improving job satisfaction and retention rates of AHPs is critical in managing budgets, increased demand for services, and workforce shortages.
The use of psychometric tools to improve team dynamics, performance and job satisfaction are well established in industries outside of health care. Research conducted within the allied health context has demonstrated that the use of psychometric profiles have a positive impact on staff satisfaction, knowledge, team dynamics and team behaviours. This webinar seeks to explore the use of personality and work style preferences in the allied health context for both individual, teams and employers.
