Strathfield Symphony Orchestra Season 2 2017: One and All

hero

This season, Strathfield Symphony presents music for one and all with works by Mozart, Beethoven and Schumann.

The journey begins with the ‘fiancée swapping’ overture from Mozart’s opera Cosi Fan Tutte before presenting Beethoven’s Violin Concerto in D Major, performed with renowned Australian soloist Alistair Duff-Forbes. During the second half, the orchestra will be performing one of the lesser-known symphonies, Schumann’s Symphony No. 2.  A work considered being a Beethovenian triumph over fate, this symphony offers audience members an uplifting musical experience filled with an ever-present and inspiring motto that begins in the brass and continues throughout each movement.

Following a commended 2016 year, featuring Beethoven’s 9th Symphony, Symphonie Fantastique, and John William’s Star Wars, Strathfield Symphony invites audiences to join us once again on our musical journey for 2017. This year will showcase wonderful fairy tales, marches and waltzes, Beethoven’s Violin Concerto featuring Alastair Duff-Forbes, an action-packed evening at the Opera, and finally a story of love, heartbreak and despair, through Tchaikovsky’s wonderful ballet, Swan Lake.
