WILPF 2017 PEACEWOMEN AWARDS
BRISBANE WOMEN PEACE MAKERS
As the oldest continuous women’s peace organisation in the world,
the Women's International League for Peace and Freedom (WILPF) links feminists across the generations.
With the support of the Brisbane City Council History Grants Program, WILPF Queensland has engaged a professional historian to unearth the long forgotten women peace makers in Brisbane from WW1 to the 1930s. Come along and hear Dr Deborah Jordan share her research on these amazing women, who will gain the posthumous recognition they deserve as WILPF Queensland Peacewomen.
The 2017 Awards will also honour the women who re-established WILPF in Brisbane in the early 1960s as part of the movement for Aboriginal rights in Australia and opposition to the Vietnam War.
