Live Love Learn October Workshops 2018

WHAT ARE OUR WORKSHOPS ABOUT?

Using Science & Art we equip kids with the essential tools to be successful students and leaders.

Your kids will experience...

  • Freedom to be and express themselves without fear of judgement
  • Creative and innovative ways of problem solving
  • The power of collaboration and communication
  • The power of taking time to connect with their inner wisdom
  • The power and joy of Independent thinking

Kids today feel the pressure to perform and that they are rushed to do a lot. Our kids are experiencing greater anxiety and depression at exceedingly young ages.

They’re not learning the full tool set needed to both compete and excel in today’s world. Instead, we are just teaching our kids to do more.

We aren't human doings...

We are human beings!

Our October workshops focus on creating an optimal space to create and problem solve, learning to trust themselves and their intuition.

We encourage independent thinking where children get in touch with their personal rhythm. With thinking groups and pairs we stimulate their imagination and encourage socialisation and collaboration.

Imagine what it would be like if you felt completely free to trust yourself to take risks, experiment and have fun.

CREATING FUTURE LEADERS WHO ARE HAPPY AND EXCEL IN LIFE.

WOBBLY MACHINES

Inspired and facilitated by artist Steve Durbach.

Steve Durbach once a science lecturer and now a local artist, is one of the facilitators whose background is in science and has now become a full time artist. He will illustrate through play how we can create moving machines. This workshop will involve the collaborative building of a motion machine - to create a collective portrait of the group.

“My intention as an artist is to approach the world and my work with a sense of curiosity which is not hard when you stop for a second and just think about the world we inhabit and our place in it. I came from a back ground of science, and that method of inquiry informs how I approach my work – which, like all great scientists (and artists) is with play at the heart of it. I do drawing and acrylic paintings that are steeped in symbolism and with abstracts as well as mechanical sculptures that reflect the complex nature of our existence through emergent and repetitive patterns.”

ACTION JACKSON.

Inspired by American artist Jackson Pollock.

During his lifetime, Pollock enjoyed considerable fame and notoriety. Jackson Pollock's greatness lies in developing one of the most radical abstract styles in the history of modern art, detaching line from colour, redefining the categories of drawing and painting, and finding new means to describe pictorial space.

We will explore the creative expression of incidental movement and action which is clearly depicted in Jackson’s abstract drip brush works.  We will play like Jackson played on large format paper. We will experiment with bouncing balls in a confined space with paint. We will explore abstract painting, music and dance and the relationship they have to one another.

  • Meditation and visualisation
  • Experimental painting
  • Creative dance

MONDAY 8 OCTOBER 9AM - 3.15PM ACTION JACKSON. Closed

THE SCIENCE OF EMOTION.

Inspired by the book "Andrew's Angry Words", written by Dorothea Lachner and illustrated by Tjong Khing .

Based on the beautifully illustrated book by Dorothea Lachner we will learn about how words create a reaction and how every action has a reaction. We will create large self portrait figure images of each child where they will use emotive words to inspire their artwork. We will also use creative movement and play to explore the relationship between our words, actions and reactions.

  • Meditation and visualisation.

  • Painting, collage, cutting.
