Terms and Conditions 2018
1. Conditions of Enrolment
1.1. Upon enrolling your child into a class at The Australian Ballet School, you are accepting our terms and conditions.
1.2. The School reserves the right to make amendments to its classes without prior notice either before or during a class or to cancel a class.
1.3. The School reserves the right to merge published age groups and schedule classes as required.
1.4. The School reserves the right to refuse any enrolment as permitted by law or to request a participant to leave a programme if they are disruptive, late or have not paid their fees.
1.5. The School provides supervision of young people during class hours.
1.6. The School and all venues used by it are non-smoking.
1.7. Waiting room facilities and studio seating are not available at venues.
1.8. In booking into a class with the School, participants (or their parents/guardians) acknowledge that activities are physical and may involve the risk of accidents occurring.
1.9. Participants or parents must advise the School in advance of any class if their child has health problems and/or requires medication while attending a session. The School tutors take care of children during their classes, but cannot be responsible for the administration of medication or ensuring suitable health precautions are in place to suit all participants.
2. Confirmation of Class
2.1. It is the applicant’s responsibility to contact the School prior to the scheduled class if you have not received any communication to confirm your registration.
2.2. All applicants receive a confirmation letter providing details of the venue and programme schedule approximately 10 days prior to commencement date.
3.1. Payment is to be made at the time of enrolment, via the online booking system,

4. Refund Policy
4.1. The School is unable to offer refunds for classes unless cancelled by the School. In certain circumstances, applicants may apply in writing for credit transfer to the following term.
5. Media & Publicity
5.1. The School may take and use photographs and videos of programme participants for promotional and archival purposes only. In submitting this enrolment form, you are giving the School permission to take photographs/videos of your child for promotional, includes but not limited to social media platforms, and archival purposes.
5.2. All material recorded during any class is the copyright of the School.
5.3. Participants may not make recordings (audio, videos or photos) of any activities at the School.
6. General Information
6.1. Classes are conducted as per schedule overleaf.
6.2. The School collects and uses your information in accordance with the relevant privacy legislation.
6.3. Feedback is provided to participants within their class, as part of our values system.

7. Participant Information
7.1. The School is to be notified directly of any changes of address (with any relevant contact phone, fax or email details) of any participant or mother/father/care. This is essential and remains the responsibility of the parent/participant.
7.2. The School is not liable for any lack of communication if participant/parent contact details are incorrect or out-of- date.
8. Dress Requirements
8.1. Girls: leotard (own choice of colour), pink ballet tights or white ankle socks, ballet shoes
8.2. Boys: black bike shorts, form-fitting plain t-shirt/singlet, white ankle socks, ballet shoes
9. Illness and Injury
9.1. The School must be informed of all absences. Please email email@example.com or call 03 9669 2807.
9.2. An asthma and anaphylaxis plan must also be completed if a participant is subject to either of these conditions.
9.3. For any other another medical alert that we should be made aware of, please provide in writing and hand in at registration.
10. Duty of Care
10.1. Private possessions brought to the School or left on School property are the responsibility of the participant concerned; the School cannot be held responsible for any loss or damage incurred.
10.2. For security reasons participants are not permitted to invite guests to the ballet centre.
10.3. If parents are inadvertently delayed due to traffic accident or any unforeseen circumstance, please telephone reception on 03 9669 2807 to alert staff of the situation.
11.1. The teachers are all highly skilled dance professionals. All staff members of the School have obtained a Working with Children Check from the Department of Justice, Victoria.
12. Child Safe Standards
The School’s commitment to child safety is based on the Seven Child Safety Standards that align with the Victorian Child Safe Standards and related child protection laws. These standards and the three principles underpin the development of the School’s work systems, practices, policies and procedures to protect children to maintain a child safe environment and embed an organisational culture of child safety within the School community. The School is committed to the protection of all children from all forms of child abuse and demonstrates this commitment through the implementation of Child Protection policies designed to empower children and to keep children safe.
12.1. The School shares its purpose-built facilities with The Australian Ballet. The Primrose Potter Australian Ballet Centre, in which the School and Company are housed, is located in the creative atmosphere of Melbourne’s Arts Precinct, adjacent to the Arts Centre Melbourne.
13. Evacuation Procedure
13.1. In the event of a security alert (including fire drills), School staff need to know which participants are in the building. We therefore require all parent/guardians of participants to follow the security procedures of signing in and signing out at registration and collection.
13.2. Using the School’s evacuation procedure, and in the event of an evacuation, all participants are accompanied by their teacher and staff to the School’s assembly meeting point (Southbank Boulevard nature strip between Kavanagh and Fawkner Streets).
14. Extreme Weather Policy
14.1. In the event of extreme weather conditions, email notification will be sent to parents as early as possible with the final decision relating to after school classes made no later than 1.00pm of the same day; an email will be circulated at this time if classes are to be cancelled.
14.2. If the government declares the extreme weather conditions as a ‘catastrophic’ or ‘code red’ fire day all classes at the School will be cancelled. Temperature readings will be taken from the Bureau of Meteorology website.
