1. How to Apply
1.1. The Australian Ballet School (‘the School’) applications may be submitted via post or online.
1.2. Postal Applications:
- Fill in the application form, selecting relevant Up Close programme(s) and venue for applicant.
- Post the application form with payment (please ensure applicant’s name is recorded on reverse of any cheque)

1.3. Please note that applications will not be processed if illegible or incomplete and that faxed or emailed forms cannot be accepted.
1.4. Online Applications: Applicants can register online through the School’s website www.australianballetschool.com.au
2. Conditions of Enrolment
2.1. The School reserves the right to make amendments to its programmes without prior notice either before or during a programme or to cancel a programme.
2.2. The School reserves the right to merge published age groups and schedule classes as required.
2.3. The School reserves the right to refuse any enrolment as permitted by law or to request a participant to leave a programme if they are disruptive, late or have not paid their fees.
2.4. The School reserves the right to refuse an enrolment if an applicant does not fulfil the age requirements for the programme.
2.5. The School provides supervision of young people during programme hours only.
2.6. The School and all venues used by it are non smoking.
2.7. Waiting room facilities and studio seating are not available at venues.
2.8. In booking into a programme with the School, participants (or their parents/guardians) acknowledge that activities are physical and may involve the risk of accidents occurring.
2.9. Participants or parents must advise the School in advance of any programme if they or their child has health problems and/or requires medication while attending a session. The School tutors take care of children during their classes, but cannot be responsible for the administration of medication or ensuring suitable health precautions are in place to suit all participants.
2.10 The School is authorised, in the case of emergency, to obtain all necessary medical assistance and treatment, at the expense of the Parent/Guardian of the participant.
3. Confirmation of Programmes
3.1. All applicants (other than Winter/Summer School) will receive a confirmation letter providing details of the venue and programme schedule approximately 2 weeks prior to commencement date.
3.2. Your Winter/Summer School place is secure once payment has been processed. Once enrolment has been processed, confirmation of enrolment will be posted.
3.3. It is the applicant’s responsibility to contact the School prior to the scheduled programme if you have not received any communication from the School to confirm your registration.
4. Refund Policy
4.1. The School is unable to offer refunds for any programme (excluding Winter/Summer School) unless the programme is cancelled by the School.
4.2. A strict cancellation fee of $100 will apply to all Summer School applications, and $60 to all Winter School applications
4.3. In exceptional circumstances, Winter/Summer School applicants may apply in writing for credit transfer to Winter/Summer School for the following year. This must be accompanied by appropriate written verification/documentation e.g. medical certificates.
4.4. The School is generally unable to offer refunds for any Winter/Summer School cancellations after applications have closed.
4.5. Subject to written verification/medical certificates being received by the School, a partial refund minus the Winter/Summer School cancellation fee may be given in exceptional circumstances for Winter/Summer School cancellations made after the application closing date but prior to commencement. Refunds are not available once Winter/Summer School has commenced.
5. Media & Publicity
5.1. The School may take and use photographs and videos of programme participants for promotional and archival purposes. only. If you do not wish to have your/your child’s photo used by the School please advise us via email

5.2. All material recorded during any programme is the copyright of the School.
5.3. Participants may not make recordings (audio, videos or photos) of any activities at the School or other programme venues.
5.4. Recordings of class work are not provided to participants.
6. General Information
6.1. Applicants must register and pay in advance for all programmes. Bookings cannot be made without payment.
6.2. Preferred dress for dance students:
Girls: Leotard, pink ballet tights, ballet shoes
Boys: Singlet top/t-shirt and tights or, full length tights/unitard with socks and ballet flats
6.3. Programmes are generally conducted during the day.
6.4. The School collects and uses your information in accordance with the relevant privacy legislation.
6.5. The School does not provide any participant with individual feedback outside of their programme classes/sessions.

7.1. The teachers are all highly skilled dance professionals. All staff of the School have obtained a Working with Children Check from the Department of Justice, Victoria.
8.1. Payment can be made via cheque (payable to The Australian Ballet School), money order, Mastercard or Visa card
8.2. To pay the standard fee for Open Masterclasses applications must be received two weeks prior to programme date published in Up Close leaflets. Applications received less than two weeks prior are required to pay the late fee as listed on application form.

9. Closing Date/Early Bird Dates
9.1. Up Close applications should be received by the Friday two weeks prior to the programme date allowing for processing and confirmation details to be forwarded to applicant, however, vacancies cannot be guaranteed (excluding Winter/Summer School – closing dates as per 9.8 & 9.9 respectively).
9.2. To pay the Early Bird Fee for any programme, applications must be received by the dates as specified below.
