Terms and Conditions  −  WA Flute Competition 2019

SECTIONS
(A) 11 years and under solo section (up to 8 Minutes)
(B) 13 years and under solo section (up to 10 Minutes)
(C) 15 years and under solo section (up to 10 Minutes)
(D) 18 years and under solo section (up to 12 Minutes)
(E) Open solo section (up to 15 minutes)
(F) 13 years and under ensemble section for 2 or more flutes (up to 10 Minutes)
(G) 18 years and under ensemble section for 2 or more flutes (up to 12 Minutes)
(H) Open Orchestral Excerpts section

*Must be the Age or under as of the 5th May 2019.
*Excerpts for Open Excerpts section will sent Saturday 20th April 2019.
*Entry fee includes performance with the competition accompanist on the day. Rehearsals can be organised in advance at the performer’s own expense. Contacts details provided upon entry.
*A copy of the parts and score for each piece is required to be emailed by Saturday 20th April 2019 for the adjudicators to follow on the day. No photocopied music is to be used during performances. You must perform from an original copy of your performance repertoire and provide the Accompanist with the original piano part to play prior to the start of the start of your section.

Entry fee includes performance with the competition Accompanist on the day. Rehearsals can be organised in advance at the performer’s own expense.

REQUIREMENTS
- to perform 2 contrasting pieces by different composers within the time limit.

For the (A), (B) and (C) sections
Piece 1) solo flute piece or study from a list A work out of any of the Series 3 AMEB exam books.
Piece 2) solo flute and piano piece. Either a single movement or full piece as long as it fits within the time limit.

For the (D) and (E) sections
Piece 1) solo flute piece or study composed without any piano accompaniment.
Piece 2) solo flute and piano piece. Either a single movement or full piece as long as it fits within the time limit.

For the (F) and (G) sections
2 contrasting pieces for flute ensemble by different composers. Either a single movement or full piece as long as it fits within the time limit.

For the (H) section
Excerpts will be emailed on Saturday 20th April 2019 in preparation.

GUIDELINES AND RULES
You are more than welcome to bring your own Accompanist though will need to cover their performance fee at your own expense.

All performers will receive a written report of their performance from Andrew Nicholson and/or Andrew Freeman.

There will be a first prize awarded for each section. A runner up may be awarded for sections with more than 5 entrants.

No photocopied music is to be used during performances. You must perform from an original copy of your performance repertoire and provide the Accompanist with the original piano part to play prior to the start of the start of your section.

No recorded accompaniment is allowed.

Entry fees are not refundable except when an event is cancelled. Entry fees cannot be transferred to another event should entrants change their mind after final timetabling
