In 2016 the Association of Independent Schools NSW initiated the Improving Outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Students Project with four schools and an evaluation team from UTS Jumbunna. The project then expanded the key lessons to 16 schools and will in 2021 expand further to 25 schools.

Nearly half of all students in the Northern Territory are Indigenous, of which 44% are from remote or very remote communities.
