EDFA's mission is to facilitate and advocate for families and carers to ensure they are supported and, equipped and acknowledged as a central part of optimising the recovery process for the person with the eating disorder. We are committed to working with clinicians annd services to share models of care which support carer inclusion in treatment.

    Dr Weirenga will discuss scientific advances in understanding of interoception in Eating Disorders (ED) how these findings inform treatment interventions, present data and discuss (1) role of body distrust in ED symptomatology, (2) neurobiological bases of altered body-related expectancy and experience in ED, (3) relationship between interoception, anxiety, and body image disturbance in ED. Strategies for applying these findings to treatment, including methods used in Temperament-Based Treatment
