The Weight – Ballads of The Band w/ Chicken Skin Orchestra

SUN 23 AUG 2026: Doors 3PM, Show 4PM
Roots music maestro, Andy Baylor, brings together the Chicken Skin Orchestra with an imaginative re-casting of the iconic, mysterious songs of The Band. With their classic albums in the late 60’s and early 70s, The Band helped redefine rock music. For this show Andy has got the band back together!-The fabulous Chicken Skin Orchestra. Many music fans will remember their exhilarating performances of Ry Cooder’s songs in the “Across The Border” show. The Orchestra features Professor Ed Bates on pedal Steel, Sam Lemann on guitars and mandolin, the mighty Rick Plant on bass, Jack O’ Dell on drums, Steven Grant on accordion with special guests Kelly Auty, Suzannah Espie, Sarah Carroll, the great Van Walker plus the Whispering Strings with Sophie Dunn and Kate Connor. They drew from everywhere:-folk, country, blues, gospel and 50s rock’n’roll and tied-it together with an Old-Timey bow. In their day they defied styles and trends and these days their music is called “Americana”. They backed Bob Dylan, led him into into his electric rock’n’ roll period and emerged in the late ‘60’s in their own right with Music from Big Pink and the self-titled Band albums. Who can forget the defiant opening sounds of the Dylan/Manuel song -Tears of Rage?It was different . Their most famous and well-loved song, The Weight, is a ‘trippy’, obscure folk, gospel song that people still sing along with. Who really knows what it means? They’ve written books about it. Another magnificent song is “The Night They Drove Ol Dixie Down”, a brilliant, bitter-sweet story-song about the fall of the South that has become part of American folklore.

Nathan Cavaleri - Growing Pains

THU 10 SEP 2026: Doors 7PM, Show 8PM
From child prodigy to cancer survivor, from global stages to mental health collapse, Nathan Cavaleri’s journey is anything but ordinary. By 12, he was at the center of a bidding war between the labels of Michael Jackson, Prince, and Madonna. By 16, he’d toured the world with B.B. King, played the Kennedy Center in front of the Clintons, and shared stages with icons like Etta James and Bonnie Raitt — all while becoming a familiar face to millions across Australia and the U.S. But while the spotlight beamed bright, a much quieter struggle was playing out behind the scenes. At its core, Growing Pains is not about fame — it’s about being human. The ache of identity. The grind of expectation. The fight to come home to yourself. In this deeply personal and emotionally charged solo show, told by Nathan through story and song, he weaves music and storytelling into a powerful narrative that traces his life from busking in Campbelltown to the heights of stardom, the depths of anxiety and burnout, and the eventual rediscovery of purpose and passion. Raw, funny, and ultimately uplifting, Growing Pains transcends nostalgia. It’s a soulful, real-time reckoning with the highs, lows, and healing that define a life lived out loud.

PINKY BEECROFT - ALBUM LAUNCH

FRI 11 SEP 2026: Doors 7PM, Show 8PM
PINKY BEECROFT makes a rare visit to Melbourne for the launch of his new album "Lonesome Wolf" - his first studio album in more than a decade. "I'm bringing a piano as well as a fabulous band. Special guests. A new album. Some old favourites. Some deep cuts for the true believers. It's going to be intimate, personal, revealing and mysterious -- sometimes all at once." Pinky Beecroft is an unpredictable thing. He was the singer songwriter front-man of Machine Gun Fellatio - a band known for legendary live shows, extreme shenanigans and a string of radio hits. At the height of their success Pinky abruptly quit the circus and disappeared. There were rumours: he'd gone into hiding in Norway; he'd relocated to the Arizona desert; he'd passed away. Some things we know for certain: Pinky turned up in TV shows as diverse as The Glasshouse and The World 9-Ball Championship. He performed sold-out shows as a stand-up comedian. He won an ARIA for Song Of The Year and co-wrote the number 1 song on the Hottest 100 (""No Aphrodisiac"" recorded by The Whitlams). He did relocate to the Arizona desert, for some time. He also recorded a couple of astonishingly lovely solo records, toured with a band called The White Russians, supported Elvis Costello, produced television series and remained an eccentric and supremely unpredictable outsider-figure in the Australian cultural landscape. Now, after a long period of hibernation, he's back with a brand-new album of pensive piano, banjo-grooves and alt-country-flavoured gems. Recorded on the outskirts of Melbourne with producer and multi-instrumentalist Damian Cafarella, the record is a stunning new chapter from the songwriter who gave us Unsent Letter. About this upcoming show, he says: "I finished a new record, and it's disturbingly, almost catastrophically good. I'm going to play songs from it. I'm going to play some hits. I'm going to work my ass off to make this one magical evening. The quality will be considerably higher and the price-point profoundly lower than any of my so-called peers. Please join me, I'd love to have you."

They work flawlessly together, singing, moving, sharing songs, memories and show-biz stories in a carefully prepared and timed program that is varied, personal and a little wicked! Bev Kennedy at the baby grand is their one-woman band.” — Carol Wimmer, Stage Whispers “Old Friends is a fabulously entertaining show. Mark Trevorrow has long been one of Australia’s comedy and cabaret stars, enjoying international success with his hilariously camp alter ego Bob Downe.” — Jo Litson, Limelight “Noffs has a charisma that comes from far more than his singing and acting. There is a ‘boy next door’ charm about the guy, a naïveté and honesty that belies his off-stage achievements. His grandfather Ted Noffs founded the Wayside Chapel. And yet he remains totally unaffected, completely genuine.” — Stage Whispers “They are such a team. Cabaret bookers should check this one out… a standing ovation.” — Adelaide Advertiser “Supporting throughout is the fantastic Bev Kennedy on piano, who does not stop and keeps everything on track.” — Glam Adelaide “Fabulous! So good together and the arrangements are amazing.” — Gina Riley “A wonderful, funny show about friendship.” — Alan Cumming

Painters and Dockers feat. Jeremy Oxley (Sunnyboys)

SAT 03 OCT 2026: Doors 7PM, Show 8PM
NOW THIS IS GOING TO BE A SPECIAL DOUBLE FEATURE! After huge crowds and stunning reviews from shows in Brisbane, Sydney and Adelaide, two of the greats of Australian rock, the inimitable PAINTERS AND DOCKERS and the legendary JEREMY OXLEY of THE SUNNYBOYS, will bring their combined show to MEMO Saturday 03 October. At this unique event Oxley will join the Dockers on stage during their set to perform several old Sunnyboy classics. Jeremy Oxley is thrilled to be back on stage again. “I love being involved with The Dockers. They have always been such a fun band. I’m personally a huge fan. It’s a perfect match for me.” “It will be awesome to finally bring the show to Melbourne, as we have had such great fun performing with Jeremy in the other states," said Paulie Stewart from the Painters and Dockers. “We have known Jeremy for many years, as both the Sunnyboys and The Painters and Dockers, were managed by Australian rock legend, Lobby Loyld in the 1980’s.” “The Dockers played many of the Australian dates on the last ever Sunnyboys tour, which included a show in Sydney at the Enmore Theatre, in front of a packed house that included Australian Prime Minister, Anthony Albanese.” Adding to an already special night, The Painters and Dockers will perform their seminal album BUCKET in entirety @ MEMO Saturday October 3rd. BUCKET, has been a critically acclaimed, high-energy live album, that captured the band at their absolute peak and over-the-top glory. Originally released in 1986, it remains a fan favourite and a definitive snapshot of the Melbourne live music scene. ‘BUCKET’ was recorded live over two nights at the iconic, ‘Tropicana Club’ Richmond, and at the legendary ‘Cosmic Comet Kaos Ball’ held at Ormond Hall, Prahran. This was the same year as Hayley’s Comet, a staggering 40 years ago! BUCKET was produced by the then Dockers manager and Australian rock legend, Lobby Lloyd. The album thrives on raw, chaotic energy. It brings listeners directly into the sweat-drenched atmosphere of their 1980s pub gigs, highlighting the Dockers powerful, brass-driven, and satirical post-punk sound. Bucket features live fan favourites such as ‘Kill Kill Kill,’ ‘Jealousy’, and ‘Organised Slime’. Widely celebrated by fans and collectors, it is considered one of the best representations of the raw intensity that defined the Australian live indie rock circuit.

Bill Evans and the VansBand allstars (CANCELLED)

SUN 04 OCT 2026: Doors 6PM, Show 7PM
Few musicians can say they helped shape one of the most important comeback chapters in modern jazz history. Fewer still can say they did it at 22 years of age. This October, legendary saxophonist Bill Evans, the fiery, genre-crossing voice behind Miles Davis’ 1980s resurgence returns to Australia with a world-class band featuring drummer Keith Carlock, bassist Pablo Contreras and keyboardist George Whitty. Together, this four piece moves effortlessly between high energy fusion, deep groove, blues-inflected improvisation and cinematic jazz textures. It’s music built on decades of experience, but played with urgency and spontaneity. For jazz lovers, musicians and anyone who understands the weight of that Miles Davis lineage, this is not just another tour announcement, it’s a rare opportunity to witness one of the great living saxophonists in full flight, backed by two masters of their craft.

Dave Warner's from the Suburbs 50 Years Strong

SAT 17 OCT 2026: Doors 7PM, Show 8PM
This October marks the fiftieth anniversary of Dave Warner’s from the Suburbs one of Australia’s most unique bands. `Suburban Boy’ Dave Warner, named by Bob Dylan as one of his favourite Australian artists, launched out of Perth with his 1972 proto-punk band Pus, then refined the concept into ‘suburban rock’ the Australian equivalent of Brit ‘kitchen-sink, angry young-man’ cinema. In the late 70s Dave Warner’s from the Suburbs crash-tackled a largely imitative Australian rock scene with unbridled energy and originality with album ‘Mugs Game’ going gold within eight weeks. Tracks like “Convict Streak’ and ‘Half Time at the Football’, precursors to rap, and sung in an Australian accent sliced and diced the country’s culture and led to Warner’s arrest for singing “obscene songs”. Now to celebrate that glorious era DWFTS come to MEMO Music Hall St Kilda, Sat Oct 17, for their only Melbourne appearance, with most of the original ‘Mugs Game’ Suburbs in the line-up and some special guests. For more than two hours Dave, Tony, Howie, Paul and a host of other musicians will perform material from Pus, through the Mugs Game, Free Kicks albums and beyond. This will be a very special night, possibly the last time you’ll get a chance to see this band deliver its history from womb to tomb. Don’t miss your chance to be part of it.

Katie Noonan

SUN 08 NOV 2026: Doors 3PM, Show 4PM
5 x ARIA Award winning artist Katie Noonan will release her 30th studio album in 2026: Alone but All One. The album is an intimate and poignant exploration of love in all its stages and features Katie’s first song-writing collaboration with acclaimed writer Trent Dalton. The album is a powerful and delicate offering with Katie’s piano and a string quartet the only accompaniment for her exquisite vocal performance. "This album is for anyone who’s gone through a life shift-not just separation, but grief, uncertainty, or quiet reinvention.” reveals Katie, “It’s music for sitting with things. For remembering we’re not alone, even in solitude. It’s personal, but I hope it will resonate in a way that becomes collective.” Alone but All One is a quiet turning inward-a return to something essential. Musically it is very stripped back-just Katie, her piano and a string quartet, recorded live in her lounge room on Gubbi Gubbi Country in the hills behind Nambour, Queensland. It feels like a deep breath before the next chapter.  The creative intention is clear: to honour this moment, share it with care, and trust that others will feel themselves in it too. Steve Balbi - LIVE & INTIMATE

THU 19 NOV 2026: Doors 7.30, Show 8.00PM
First cutting his chops on bass with Kevin Borich Express at just 17 years of age, Balbi was very much the child prodigy. Although the creative chameleon’s species being was soon liberated as he cultivated an indelible production and song-writing partnership with Justin Stanley; first founding and producing Aussie chart-toppers Noiseworks (1986), before forming the Electric Hippies (1993). Numerous European tours, four multi-platinum award-winning albums, and various ARIA Award Nominations later, Balbi lifted his guitar from the rack to form Universe with Cathy Green (X) in 1996, working with Prince and Paisley Park’s Susan Rogers, before Move Trees and Moon emerged in subsequent years. Then in 2011, Balbi accepted an invitation to front 1970s and ‘80s new-wavers Mi-Sex, who will next year mark the 40th Anniversary of Graffiti Crimes and Computer Games. Reflecting upon his journey as composer and producer, Balbi’s eclectic catalogue of production credits transcend genres, akin to his odyssey as a musician and performer. For the dynamic assemblage of artists that he’s produced includes Noiseworks, Electric Hippies, Glenn Shorrock, Juice, Jenny Morris, Pearls & Swine, Toe to Toe, Vincent Stone, Fyre Byrd, Moon, and Christine Anu, among numerous others. And in 1999, Balbi sat in on vocals and guitar for David Bowie’s Hours sessions with Marius de Vries too. In April this year, the world became a very different place for millions of Australians when Dr Jordan Nguyen and his extraordinary team of dreamers at Psykinetic launched Atmosphere – eye-controlled technology that enables people living with high-level physical disability to use only their eyes to make music. Celebrating yet another world first, Balbi traversed new ground alongside Jessica Irwin to release the single ‘Winners (Psykinetic Mix)’, which was recorded with Psykinetic’s eye-controlled music software. Three months later, reflecting a renaissance in Test Cricket, Balbi composed and produced the new Fox Cricket Theme. Orchestrated by George Ellis and recorded with members of the Sydney Symphony, the Theme promises to become profoundly entrenched within the Australian consciousness, just as the Channel Nine Theme song has been an iconic symbol of the Australian summer for 40 years. Balbi has since composed the Themes for ‘The Big Break’ and ‘Cricket Tragic’ programs also, meanwhile a hip hop and rock version of the Test Theme featuring Brett Lee on bass will be launched this summer. Yet it is Balbi’s debut solo LP, Black Rainbow (2013), and its subsequent surreal reprise, Rainbow Black (2016), which appears to have set a point of departure for his enigmatic artistry, and manifestation into a new solo LP due toward the end of 2019 – Humans. Inspired by ten photographs from Brandon Stanton’s Humans of New York series, Balbi’s third solo endeavour is an eclectic collection of words and music that navigates a wistful path from melancholy through madness. Casting a renewed focus upon the notion humanity itself, in both riff and verse, the first single ‘Modern Love’ was released on Friday 26 October and debuted at #3 on the iTunes Rock Chart.
