Slip & Swirl: Decorative Bowl Workshop

Join local artist Helen Cattell of Good Hope Pottery for a hands-on workshop where you’ll create three unique bowl designs using stoneware clay, all within the beautiful setting of the Tootsie Gallery Cafe. Helen will guide you through the process of shaping your bowls and applying decorative slip, helping you explore a variety of textures and patterns through slip trailing techniques. This is a wonderful opportunity to express your creativity and connect with a warm, welcoming community of fellow makers. After the workshop, the bowls will be left to dry for a couple of days. Helen will then collect them and take them back to her studio at Good Hope for the firing process. Each piece will undergo a bisque firing, followed by the application of three coats of a glaze of your choice and then a final glaze firing to achieve a glossy, durable finish. Once complete, your bowls will be ready for collection from Tootsie Gallery Cafe after the firing process is finished.

Clay Canvas: Tile & Trivet Workshop

Join local artist Helen Cattell of Good Hope Pottery for a hands-on workshop where you’ll create a decorative clay tile or trivet using stoneware clay, all within the beautiful setting of the Tootsie Gallery Cafe. Helen will guide you through the process of designing your piece using a variety of pottery tools and stamps, helping you explore an array of textures and patterns to make your creation truly unique. It's a fun and inspiring way to learn new skills, explore your creativity, and enjoy a relaxed, supportive atmosphere. Once your designs are complete, you’ll decorate your tile or trivet using three coats of underglaze, choosing from a vibrant selection of colours to make each piece uniquely yours. After the workshop, the tiles will be left to dry for a couple of days. Helen will then collect them and take them back to her studio at Good Hope for the firing process.

Mosaic Water Bowl Class

Mosaic Water Bowl Class is Suitable for beginners as well as people who have done some mosaic before. Create a small water bowl mosaic to learn the principles of building water immersion mosaics such as bird baths. All materials including the water bowl included, notes to take home, as well as afternoon tea Saturday and Sunday. With a cafe cuppa included both days. Come and meet new people and learn new skills in the inspiring Tootsie workshop environment. Saturday 30th August 1-5pm creating your water bowl. Sunday 31st August 1-4pm grouting and polishing session.

Indoor Glass Mosaic Class Beginners

Mosaic workshop for beginners focusing on indoor adhesives, materials and techniques. Join a small group and mosaic artist Cayla Pothan in creating your own indoor glass piece, also using mirror, found objects and embellishments on a pre prepared timber canvas. Learn glass cutting, colour management, placement techniques and how to work with delicate materials. Notes and completed piece to take home at the end of the 2 sessions. All materials, use of tools provided and a cafe cuppa and afternoon tea both days.
