What begins as a spectacle does not remain a spectacle.
Rhinoceros, written by Eugene Ionesco and translated by Derek Prouse, invites audiences into a world of absurdism, spectacle, and conformity. The performance is directed, designed, and performed by WSHS's Year 12 Drama students on the 28th and 29th of April. As the evening progresses, what first appears playful and theatrical begins to shift. The boundary between fiction and reality blurs, until even the audience feel that they are no longer just the ones who are watching a performance, but instead feel that they are being increasingly watched themselves.
Tickets are $45 and include a three-course meal prepared by our Certificate II Hospitality students, with live ambience performed by our music students throughout the evening.
