Carer Connection Dinner GDR

Between Thursday 17 July 2025 and Thursday 20 November 2025
Foster and Kinship Carers Association NT (FKCANT) is inviting all our foster and kinship carers to our monthly carer connection dinner. An opportunity for our carer community to connect, share experiences and enjoy a delicious meal together. The Dinner is at Cazaly's Club Palmerston. A friendly FKCANT staff member will be available from 5:45pm-7pm. You are welcome to join us at any time that suits you. Cazaly's Club Palmerston has a fully supervised kids' club led by Ochre Card-qualified staff. Enjoy your dinner while your kids have fun in a safe and supportive environment. Meals will be available at Cazaly's menu prices, and kids eat free! FKCANT will sponsor meals for children from the kid's menu. A wonderful opportunity for foster and kinship carers to meet and connect with each other over some delicious pizza - and the best part? The pizzas are sponsored by FKCANT! Keep Kids Safe Online: ThinkUKnow Presentation with FKCANT

Foster and Kinship Carers Association NT will be hosting a ThinkUKnow presentation on Wednesday 23 July 2025 in Alice Springs at 9am and all Foster and Kinship Carers are encouraged to attend. Young people in care can face serious risks online - from grooming to image-based abuse. This new information session is tailored especially for carers, and will help you understand: - online grooming and sexual extortion, - self-generated child abuse material, - how to support help-seeking behaviour, - and practical strategies to protect children in your care. Delivered nationally by ThinkUKnow Australia, this evidence-based session is your opportunity to gain tools and insights to support safer online experiences for young people and prevent online child sexual exploitation. The event is for volunteer carers from the Department of Children and Families and FKCANT Foster and Kinship members. Please reserve your seat for catering purposes.

An empowering forum on Resilience and Self-Care led by Dr. Teresa Schewellnus, Education Manager and Motivational Speaker and Foster and Kinship Carers Association NT. As carers, you often find yourselves caught up in the whirlwind of caring for others. However, it's crucial to remember that your own well-being is just as important. We've created an opportunity to pause, reflect, and invest in yourself, which in turn will enhance your caregiving skills. What to expect: • Gain insights into building resilience to navigate unexpected changes and challenges in life. • Understand the significance of self-care and mindfulness in promoting physical, mental, and emotional well-being. • Learn practical techniques for incorporating self-care into your daily routine. • Catering will be provided.
