Join our team from the Foster & Kinship Carers Association NT as we attend NAPCAN’s Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention / Mandatory Reporting workshop. This essential session provides practical knowledge for anyone who works or volunteers with children and young people — including carers, community workers, and support staff. You’ll learn about: Roles and responsibilities in preventing child abuse and neglect NT legislation and mandatory reporting requirements Recognising early indicators of harm How to respond to disclosures Organisational and individual responsibilities in supporting families Prevention strategies and best practices This workshop is delivered by the amazing team at NAPCAN. We’ve reserved a small number of free tickets for carers and FKCANT staff to attend together.

Confident Conversations & Clear Boundaries Workshop

Supporting Children with Trauma Backgrounds: Conversations & Boundaries Caring for children who have experienced trauma can bring unique challenges — and it can also be deeply rewarding. This interactive workshop, presented by Sarah Austin from Darwin Youth Services, is designed specifically for Foster & Kinship Carers to strengthen the way you support children in your care. Online Safety for Foster & Kinship Carers – ThinkUKnow

Presented by ThinkUKnow Australia, a program led by the Australian Federal Police in partnership with Microsoft, Datacom, and Commonwealth Bank, this interactive session explores the challenges children and young people face online — and what carers can do to help. You’ll learn: How to keep kids safe online with simple, practical strategies. The latest apps, games, and online trends young people use. What to do if something goes wrong — including where to go for help. This session focuses on prevention and empowering carers to take action. FASD Workshop with Prue Walker

Join us for a practical, informative workshop with Prue Walker, one of Australia’s leading experts on Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD). First Aid and CPR 2026 – Foster and Kinship Carers

Foster and Kinship Carers Association NT are offering First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) training for our Carer members at a reduced rate of just $20. Boost your confidence in emergency care with a full-day certification course from the trusted experts at St John Ambulance. Join us on Thursday June 18, 2026, and gain the practical skills you need to handle emergencies with assurance. Upon successful completion of the course, you’ll receive a nationally recognised certification in: HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation HLTAID010 Provide basic emergency life support HLTAID011 Provide first aid What you need to know Before attending, you’ll need to complete a self-paced e-Learning module. A Unique Student Identifier (USI) is required. You can get or look up your USI at usi.gov.au. If the $20 fee is a barrier for you, please contact us directly on 1300 352 268.
