Mayoral Launch of the new Wind Phone, Whispers in the Wind.

Thursday 18 June 2026
Join us on Thursday 18 June at Camden Town Farm for the Mayoral launch of Whispers in the Wind, a Wind Phone installation along the Public Art Nepean River Trail. Whispers in the Wind is a contemplative public artwork inspired by the human need to communicate with those we miss, love or remember. Wind phones originated in Japan following the 2011 tsunami, creating quiet, non-digital spaces where people could process grief by speaking into an unconnected phone allowing the wind to carry their words. This installation offers a similar opportunity for reflection, providing a space for grief, gratitude, hope and connection in a shared public setting. Enjoy light refreshments and a relaxed opportunity to experience this meaningful new space for connection and remembrance.
