Young Women and STEM Education Research

Monday 7 November 2022
Over many years, schools have modified STEM subjects to be more accessible to young women. The Gap State High School has implemented a range of strategies for all students. Last term, The Gap State High and UniSQ partnered to conduct research on Young Women and STEM education. It asked why so few young women select STEM subjects and how to make STEM more attractive to girls. At this event Dr Evan Shellshear will present the results of this pioneering research and receive feedback from parents whose daughters took part in the survey. The results are eye opening and have informed strategies to help young women thrive in STEM. You are invited to attend this unique event with Dr Shellshear, a world recognised researcher in the field of STEM, spanning more than 15 years. He is Head of Analytics at Biarri and leads their female STEM support program. He has three children, including one daughter, and is keen to understand how she and all girls can be supported in their STEM journeys.
