The Kodály Music Education Institute of Australia Incorporated (KMEIA) is a national association for music educators. Our organisation is inspired by the educational and aesthetic philosophies of the Hungarian composer Zoltán Kodály, adapting his ideas to create music programs for early childhood, schools and communities. KMEIA Victoria is the Victorian Chapter of the Kodály Music Education Institute of Australia.

If in Doubt Breathe Out Workshop

An Accent Method breathing workshop for choral conductors and singers supported by ANCA VIC-TAS, Kodaly Victoria, Christ Church Music Foundation. Lead by leading Accent Method for singing specialist, Dr Ron Morris and Michael Fulcher Dr Morris will work through an Accent Method breathing routine in the first hour after which Michael Fulcher will demonstrate how these techniques may be incorporated into the choral rehearsal. A short period of Q&A will conclude the session.

Presenter: Dr Karen Howard (USA) This online workshop will cover matters related to the diversification of both repertoire and pedagogical strategies in a Kodály-inspired music classroom. Considerations of ethical song research, avoiding cultural appropriation, deemphasizing notation while emphasizing a sonic curiosity, and broadening our understanding of what "music literacy" can mean will be discussed. Additionally, a variety of quality resources for diversifying curriculum will be shared.
