QACI Discovery Workshops Year 7&8

Saturday 27 July
Students in Year 7 & 8 can participate in our cross-disciplinary Discovery Workshops taking place at QACI on Saturday 27 July. These workshops will be held across two sessions 10am - 12pm and 1pm - 3pm. The content is repeated and students can participate in two (2) workshops for the day. There are no knowledge or experience prerequisites that apply to Discovery Workshops. Designed using a cooperative approach that merges elements from different subjects these hands-on workshops provide opportunities for lateral, collaborative, and creative thinking in fun and engaging ways with our world-class educators. Workshops are $15 per workshop and include (1) lunch provided by our school canteen - The Blue Goose Café. Lunch is served from 12pm - 1pm. Bookings for workshops are essential and close on Thursday 25 July, 9am. You will receive an email from QACI when bookings are closed. This will be emailed on Thursday 25 July.

Please arrive at least ten minutes prior to the commencement of your tour. The tour will depart from the main foyer on Level 2 at the scheduled booking time. Please enter the building via our main entrance at 61 Musk Avenue, Kelvin Grove. While parking is not available on site, ample street parking is located in the Kelvin Grove Urban Village precinct. As tour numbers are restricted, we ask that you please cancel your booking if you are unable to attend so that your space/s can be made available to others.

QACI Dance Showcase, Chrome

Between Thursday 8 August 2024 and Friday 9 August 2024
Chrome 2024, is made up of two contemporary dance works created by QACI students in collaboration with QACI’s Dance Teacher, Liz Collyer. Throughout this term, the students worked with Mrs Collyer on exploring movement and creating movement. They took ownership to establish their own working processes and styles within movement. The outcome is dance works of contemporary and postmodern genres and work that incorporates each student’s individual compositions. We are excited to share Chrome 2024 with you all and we are sure you will agree, we have some wonderful emerging young performers and choreographers in our midst.

ACARA Dance Workshop - Chrome - Year 7&8 Students

Friday 9 August 2024
As part of our Education Queensland Outreach program a limited opportunity for Year 7 and 8 dance students is available to participate in an ACARA curriculum based workshop on Friday 9 August, 4pm - 5:30pm (Term 3 Week 5). The $15 workshop includes dinner and two tickets (student and parent) to attend the Chrome Dance showcase taking place on Friday 9 May, 6:30pm - 8pm. There is limited availability for this workshop and bookings are essential. Students are invited to engage in a Contemporary Dance workshop exploring key techniques, movement and expressive skills. Led by QACI Dance teacher Liz Collyer, students will gain insight into the creative process of Chrome to uncover how the elements of dance and production elements have been used to communicate intention. Using concepts from one of the the performance pieces, students will explore improvisational practices to foster their personal style and develop their technical proficiency within contemporary dance.

exIBit 2024, Year 12 Visual Arts Exhibition

QACI proudly presents our Visual Arts Exhibition - exIBit, a celebration of talent and ingenuity. The Year 12 Visual Art Exhibition promises to captivate your senses and inspire your imagination, taking you on a journey through a diverse array of captivating artworks. We are thrilled to announce that the exhibition will be opened by Dr Charles Robb, a distinguished contemporary artist and Senior Lecturer at Queensland University of Technology. Charles's artistic exploration of subjectivity and incidental form spans across sculptural, digital, and photographic media. His acclaimed work has graced numerous exhibitions and garnered multiple awards. His participation promises to elevate this gathering of Year 12 art enthusiasts to an even higher level of brilliance. Delightful refreshments will be served by the members of the QACI P&C Association. Their dedication to enhancing the arts community is truly commendable.

QACI Music Showcase

QACI invites you to the QACI Music Showcase, an event highlighting the artistic excellence of our music students and honorary music students across all year levels. The evening will feature performances from our directed ensembles, including the QACI Vocal Collective, Vox, String Collective, and Contemporary Music Ensemble, as well as a variety of exceptional student-lead performances. Taking place in the theatre, tickets are complimentary however booked within a limited context of availability.

Cafeteria, A Musical Theatre Cabaret

Tuesday 18 June 2024
Cafeteria, A Musical Theatre Cabaret is a CAS project organised by Year 11 students Irene, Zara, Aiden and Lilly. The story aims to reflect high school experiences by drawing individual stories from a high school cafeteria. The show is filled with hits from the biggest school-based musicals. Cafeteria aims to help spread awareness for teen mental health. We kindly ask that you make a donation to Beyond Blue, an Australian mental health and wellbeing organisation before attending the show.   The cast is made up of QACI students from all three grades. Over the past term, they have been rehearsing and are extremely excited to showcase it to the QACI community. They aim to raise awareness about teen mental health, as well as money for Beyond Blue. It is important that people know of the resources available to them when in need.     Wear something nice, grab a tray, make a donation and join us in the Cafeteria!
