These classes are designed for dancers starting from scratch. They'll introduce the fundamentals of swing dancing, the basic shapes and some accessible moves you can use on the social dance floor. Each class will build up your swing dancing vocabulary so you can start creating and improvising with your partner. Expect to have fun and meet loads of new people, while you explore becoming a grounded, versatile and expressive dancer. We'll also share some of the amazing artists who have created jazz music and hope to inspire you to learn more about this rich, living culture.

Two back-to-back beginner classes designed for dancers starting swing dancing from scratch followed by social dancing! Sign up for a single class or fast track your swing journey by taking two classes with different swing rhythms. Learn the fundamentals of swing dancing, the basic shapes and some accessible moves you can use on the social dance floor straightaway. Expect to have fun and meet loads of new people! We'll also share some of the amazing artists who have created swing and hope to inspire you to learn more about this rich, living culture. 1-2pm Beginner swing 2-3pm Beginner swing 3-4:30pm Social dancing!! Join us to explore dancing blues solo and with friends! Shob and Coco will teach some classic vernacular solo blues vocabulary as well as explore blues aesthetics in your solo movement. Then in the second class we will learn how to trade phrases, draw inspiration, share rhythms as well as affirm and appreciate our friends! How can we lift them up as we dance together and bring out the best in us both? Class 1 (10:30am): Explore classic solo blues vocabulary Class 2 (11:45am): Riffin' and cuttin' with friends

We will come together in the stunning I.AM.DANCE Studio in Fitzroy to dance slow lindy, slow balboa and ballrooming blues. 8-11:30 pm: Social dancing with music from three of Melbourne's best DJs!
