Ever Playful is Somesh Putcha’s debut album composed for the ABC Jazz for the ABC Classic and Jazz Composer Commission 2024. It’s about the ways in which he’s grown up straddling the line between his Telugu and Australian background, and how that continues to shape him and help him grow. The album draws from the storytelling of his father’s Hindu background an idea from the myth of Amrutamu that to experience positive growth and wisdom requires one to experience equal strife and hardship. Each song is linked to a lesson and the hardships that taught it.
