SAFETREK 4WD BASIC TRAINING COURSE (THEORY & PRACTICAL)

Between Thursday 16 May 2024 and Thursday 28 November 2024
The Basic course will introduce you to a new world of exploration and adventure, as you learn what you and your vehicle are capable of achieving. The course consists of a three-hour theory session on a Thursday night at Mont Albert, followed by a full day of practical instruction in a forest around Narbethong in small groups. The course will demonstrate the best and safest way to use your vehicle, with minimal impact to the environment. Practice in stall stop key starts for manual vehicles and the many ways of descending a steep hill in automatics. We will cover all the new technology in the modern vehicle so that you will understand what all the buttons and acronyms mean. You will cover debogging, steep up and down hills, river crossings, and the best ways to assess obstacles. There will be demonstrations of recovery equipment and its uses, spares which should be carried, accessories that are available and different driving techniques for different terrains.

SAFETREK ADVANCED 4WD SKILLS TRAINING COURSE

Saturday 16 November 2024
This two day course builds on the competencies and knowledge gained in our Basic 4WD training course. As this course runs over two days there will be an overnight stay. Whilst touring some of Australia’s magnificent forests, emphasis will be placed on further developing driving skills, map and GPS reading, safe wheel changing operation and tyre puncture repairs, recovery techniques including winching, chain fitment, emergency and mechanical repairs, camping tips and camping etiquette with special attention placed on your safety and care for the tracks and surrounding environment.

SAFETREK SAND DRIVING SKILLS TRAINING COURSE

16th January, 2025 to 19th January, 2025
This 4 day course held in South Australia, covers vehicle preparation and the varied driving techniques required to traverse the different types of sand found on beaches and sand dunes environments under the guidance of experienced instructors. Throughout the course along with your driving skills being further developed, we will cover map and GPS reading, safe wheel changing operation and tyre puncture repairs, recovery techniques including sand winching, emergency and mechanical repairs, camping tips and etiquette with special attention placed on your safety and care for the tracks and the sensitive surrounding environment. It is a prerequisite to participate as a driver that you will have completed a basic Safetrek 4WD course.
