White Cane Mingle at Moorebank Sporties

Between Wednesday 18 February 2026 and Wednesday 2 December 2026
A new community initiative is launching at Moorebank Sports Club. Cocky Guides has partnered with Moorebank Sporties to host White Cane Mingle — a welcoming and inclusive space for blind and low-vision residents, their families, and supporters to connect and build community. The first White Cane Mingle takes place on Wednesday, 12 November 2025, at 10:30 a.m., followed by a Christmas Mingle on Wednesday, 3 December 2025, celebrating the International Day of People with Disability. Events will continue regularly at Moorebank Sporties in Hammondville. Participants will enjoy a relaxed social gathering, an orientation around the venue, and the chance to form lasting connections with others who share similar experiences. Kellie Hayes, Director of Cocky Guides Australia, said the program helps break down barriers to inclusion. “White Cane Mingle brings the broader community together with blind and low-vision individuals to help build meaningful social networks. Together with Moorebank Sports Club, we’re creating a supportive hub for Sydney’s south-west.” Complimentary transport is available from nearby suburbs and train stations.

This four-day inclusive experience is centred around Taste of the Senses at Red Feet Wines — a wine journey curated from the ground up for blind and low-vision guests. Rather than adapting a traditional tasting, this experience begins with texture, aroma, flavour and storytelling — creating a wine event that is truly inclusive by design. With small group travel, 1:2 support and a relaxed pace, this is more than a weekend away — it’s connection, confidence and community in one of Australia’s most beautiful regions. The Experience from Sydney, but can also be adapted from Melbourne: Day 1 – Friday We depart Central Station at 8:00 am for a scenic road trip south. Enjoy a relaxed lunch stop in riverside Jugiong before continuing to Mansfield, our base for the weekend. Midday, we travel to Red Feet Wines for the highlight of the weekend: Taste of the Senses. Three wines. Three matched dishes. Guided tactile exploration. This immersive three-hour experience focuses on aroma, texture and flavour in a way mainstream tastings rarely do. Return to Mansfield for downtime and dinner. Day 3 – Sunday We journey to historic Beechworth, exploring its heritage streets, boutique shops and rich storytelling. There’s the option of a gentle walk for those feeling energetic, or simply soaking up the charm at your own pace.
