Natalie Fraser - Writing for Awards
Saturday 17 June 2023 10:30 AM - 1:30 PM (UTC+10)
Australia has a relatively small publishing industry and it is often difficult for new writers to break into. That's why it's good to think about entering writing awards as a way of getting your work out there!
This session will examine the awards on offer both in Australia and overseas and examine some specific examples of awards and where to find them. Other things to consider include prize money, entry fees, submission guidelines, judges, author anonymity.
Natalie Fraser is a Geelong West based writer of short stories, essays, and memoir. Natalie has been longlisted and shortlisted for a number of literary prizes around Geelong and Melbourne including the Glen Eira ‘My Brother Jack’ award where she was also highly commended. She has won the Ada Cambridge Prize for Biographical Prose at the Williamstown Literary Festival twice – in 2014 and in 2021. She is currently working on an anthology of short stories and a memoir.
