Lights Everlasting: Stained Glass in Geelong and Beyond
Director & CEO of Geelong Gallery, Jason Smith, and Senior Curator, Lisa Sullivan, will welcome guests to the Gallery followed by a fascinating address by acclaimed author and stained glass expert, Dr. Bronwyn Hughes, who will immerse guests in the art, history and beauty of stained glass windows and the myriad of examples in the Geelong region.
Stained glass possesses an aura of mystery and romance. There is an interplay between light and colour that sparks the imagination. It is one of the most unchanged crafts, still taking, as it did centuries ago, time and patience, and an appreciation for colour and line.
Learn more about the beautiful colours and stories behind stained glass windows in school chapels, churches and private houses in the Geelong region, and more modern examples such as the Great Hall ceiling at the National Gallery of Victoria
