May 2025 will see the introduction of Queensland legislation to criminalise the use of coercive control.
In addition to current legislation criminalising strangulation including nonlethal strangulation as a criminal offence, it is imperative that all professionals who work with persons who experience and use domestic and family violence are familiar with the definitions of coercive control and nonlethal strangulation and are able to identify and respond when these issues present in practice.
The Coercive Control and Red Flags for Lethality workshop will introduce participants to the definition of coercive and control and the significance of nonlethal strangulation as a means of coercive control.
Participants will experience the opportunity to gain information and experience in applying
