Pressure Injury Care: Global Trends and New Approaches

Unicare Health Seminar : Defining Pressure Care Excellence

Unicare Health invites you to a dynamic, full-day seminar designed to advance clinical expertise in pressure injury prevention and management. Drawing on the 4th edition International Guidelines and highlighting emerging innovations in prevention and treatment, this event offers clinicians the latest evidence-based strategies and practical insights to improve clinical outcomes.
Held on the eve of Worldwide Stop Pressure Injury Day, this event marks our seventh consecutive year supporting Western Australia’s largest movement to #StopThePressure.

This year, we are honoured to welcome Tracy Nowicki, Clinical Nurse Consultant and leading authority in pressure injury care. Tracy will deliver the latest updates from The International Guidelines, share evidence-based strategies, and provide practical insights from her extensive frontline experience.

  • Accurately differentiate between pressure injuries, moisture-associated skin damage, and other wound types using validated staging frameworks.
  • Assess and manage pressure injuries in darkly pigmented skin using evidence-based clinical approaches.

Management Strategies & Interventions

  • Evaluate strategies for pressure redistribution, including seating systems, support surfaces, and bariatric care solutions.
  • Develop advanced skills in managing bariatric clients, including clinical risk assessment, equipment selection, and care planning to reduce pressure injury risk in this high-vulnerability population.
  • Integrate assistive technologies and emerging innovations into prevention and treatment plans to improve patient safety and outcomes.

Practical Skills Development

  • Gain hands-on experience with pressure care equipment, including dynamic support surfaces and seating solutions.
  • Develop competency in selecting, prescribing, and tailoring equipment for diverse user needs across clinical settings.

This seminar goes beyond theory, offering clinically relevant, evidence-driven learning that you can apply immediately in practice. You will leave equipped with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to deliver safer, more effective, and patient-centred care.
