Lymphoedema screening clinic bookings
About
Are You at Risk of Lymphoedema?
Lymphoedema is a condition that can cause swelling (oedema) in the upper or lower limbs, trunk or breast. It is due to the build-up of lymph fluid in these tissues and can occur after surgery, injury or radiation therapy.
Lymphoedema can develop during treatment or months to years after treatment. Screening enables signs of lymphoedema to be identified prior to symptoms becoming visible.
Early symptoms of lymphoedema may include:
-
Swelling in an arm, leg, or other area
-
Heaviness, tightness, or aching
-
Tingling or reduced movement
-
Tightness in clothing, shoes, or jewellery
-
Skin that pits (dints) with pressure
If you experience any of these symptoms it is important for you to make an appointment with the clinic.
