Cognitive Stimulation Therapy
About
A special in-person workshopCognitive Stimulation Therapy: An effective and cost-effective treatment for people with dementia.
In the absence of a cure for dementia, effective treatments that maximise functioning and well-being are paramount. Cognitive Stimulation Therapy (CST) is a brief, group treatment for people with mild to moderate dementia, delivered in over 42 countries including Australia. Its global evidence base shows that it improves multiple aspects of cognition, mood and wellbeing; and that it can result in reduced health and social care use if implemented widely. Prof Spector will present the CST programme and will summarise the research evidence-base and focus on its implementation as a way to improve the lives of people with dementia. There will be time for questions. The workshop will show video clips of CST sessions and involve roleplay activities.
Spaces limited to 50 people.
